STUDENT. ADVOCACY

Collegiate Congress is a purely higher education student leaders-run organization. It can best be imagined as an umbrella organization of elected student body leadership from private, public, and proprietary academic institutions in New York City.

We serve as a platform for sharing and working on issues that are common to students. We work closely with City, State, and Federal governments in pursuing our mission and objectives.

Our mission in fulfilling the needs of students also including giving them an exposure of diplomacy and multilateralism. Carry out its activities in the spirit of the Charter of the United Nations (and its Specialized Agencies) in accordance with the Chapter I of the Article 1 (Purposes and Principles). The Collegiate Congress was founded in Fall of 2014 with the mission to preserve affordability and accessibility of higher education within New York State. The organization takes the responsibility to protect, preserve and promote the rights of the student body, furthering the cause for higher education and promoting the general welfare of the students. The Collegiate Congress was formed by a collective mission of elected student leaders of New York City colleges and universities.

The organization supports hereby the equality of States, the realization of the Charter of the United Nations and the strengthening of trust among peoples. In this context, the organization fully endorses and supports the Sustainable Goal (SDG) Goal 4: Quality Education; Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all’’.

Having said that, it should be stated the following targets: 4.3 By 2030 ensure equal access for all women and men to affordable and quality technical, vocational and tertiary education, including university. In the same sense, target 4.7 By 2030, ensure that all learners acquire the knowledge and skills needed to promote sustainable development, including among others, through education for sustainable development and sustainable lifestyle, human rights, gender equality, promotion of a culture of peace and non-violence, global citizenship and appreciation of cultural diversity and of culture’s contribution to sustainable development.
